On the badge "Veteran of Mountaineering of the USSR",
and the most ancient image of Elbrus
(III century BC before the naps) was discovered by
archaeologists on a silver vase during excavations of the
Maikop burial mound.
The author of the veteran badge is the famous mountaineer Antonovich.
The sign looks solid and beautiful due to the use of overhead elements.
On the shaft of the golden ice ax is placed a circle
of yellow metal with the image of Elbrus against the blue sky,
the inscriptions "Veteran of mountaineering"
on two coils of climbing rope and "USSR" against the backdrop of the mountain.

Antonovich Ivan Iosifovich (1909-1994) - Moscow. He was born in Vladikavkaz in the family of an officer of the Russian army. On
specialty is a teacher of physical culture. 1928 - graduated from the Art School in Vladikavkaz. In the following years he combined
both professions, working as a tutor of youth, mainly in the field of mountaineering, and as an artist-designer. He is the author of

technique (Trud Publishing House, 1953), illustrated books on mountaineering. 1968-1982 - Chairman of the Climbing Committee of
the USSR FA. 1965 - Honored coach of the USSR. 1978 - honorary judge in climbing. Public work: for many years he was chairman
of the FA of Moscow and a member of the USSR FA.
